For the Love of Snow

This year I decided to put some pumpkins under the tree in our front yard to decorate for harvest...but mother nature had some decorating ideas of her own! My poor little pumpkins are no longer visible due to the massive amount of snow that has been dumped on them over the past two days! It is however supposed to warm up again by friday (up to the low 50s)...so I'm hoping that my pumpkins will make an appearance for Halloween! I have no complaints though. I just wanted Nathan to be home before the first snow and I got my wish.

We have forged out into the snow a few times. I think Isaac remembers the snow. Then again, I guess it hasn't been that long since he has seen it! He runs to the door saying, "NO! OUT-TIDE!" Which in his language means..."snow, let's go outside!" On one of our outtings, we took the kids to see Sesamee Street. They did a live performance on post for Military families. It was neat for the kids. Isaac was pretty indifferent to the whole experience. He was more concerned about the m&m's and juice box I got for him than he was Elmo and Big Bird. Avonleigh on the other hand, was mesmorized! We had planned on going out for dinner, but decided to hunker down inside and order pizza instead. =)

Sweet Reunion

Well, now that I have my husband back I'm thinking that I "might" have time to blog every now and then. I figure I'll give it a try anyway...it is after all, a very easy way to update those of you who might be interested!

I suppose I'll start with the most exciting news. NATHAN IS HOME! His deployment was approximately 14-months (415 days to be precise...not that I was counting). After an 18 hour flight his plane landed at approximately 5:00pm (1700 hours in our world) on Saturday, October 25. But of course we didn't get to see him right away. Arouond 7:30pm Isaac, Avonleigh & I headed to the gym where we spent two agonizing hours waiting. Finally at 9:30pm our soldiers arrived and after a short cermony the soldiers were dismissed and chaos errupted while everyone searched for their loved ones. It only took us a few minutes to find each other...I probably wasn't to hard to spot standing there on the bleachers in high heels trying not to drop my crying, wiggling children. After a few pictures and loading children and bags into the car we headed home. It's been fun having Daddy home! Nathan is exhausted by the kids, while I am feeling rejuvintated and grateful for the helping hand. Isaac and Avonleigh both love their Daddy. Isaac is especially funny. He will point to a picture of Nathan and say "Daddy"...then he gets a really excited look on his face and points to Nathan and says "DADDY"! He is understanding and adjusting really well.

Since he's been home, we have just enjoyed being ALL together. We are simply grateful for each moment we have with each other.
